In May, it was revealed by Deadline that Spectre and Blade Runner 2049 actor Dave Bautista would be starring in a feature adaptation of the mature comic book series Body Bags titled Dogtown.
Set in the fictional city of Terminus, Ga., the story followed a father-daughter team of assassins — Mack Delgado (aka “Clownface”) and his overzealous teenage daughter, Panda, who constantly seeks her father’s respect and permission to go out on jobs with her father and his longtime body-bagging partner.
A script has been penned by Machete Kills and Underworld: Blood Wars screenwriter Kyle Ward. Body Bags seems to be a comic book series similar to things like Kick-Ass, Deadpool, and Bloodshot which likely means they’ll be aiming for an R-rating.
We’ve now learned that they are eyeing a start next May on the comedically violent comic book film.
Keep in mind, it’s without an official director and the Guardians sequel being in limbo could end up conflicting with the start date depending on when Marvel Studios wants to move forward with the film.
Bold Films has yet to set a release date or make an announcement concerning a director.
