Syfy is currently developing a new one hour series based on the popular Boom! Studios comic book series The Woods. The series will be executive produced and directed by Brad Peyton. Peyton’s previous work includes Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas and the recently released Incarnate.
The series, based on the comic book by James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas, is set in a Wisconsin high school. The school campus, containing over 300 students, teachers and staff, vanish one day and are transported to the moon of an alien planet. The school is left in the middle of strange alien woods.
The story then switches between two narratives as a group of students decide to leave the school to find answers and a way home and the remaining students and staff try to cope with their new circumstances. How does a teacher retain control when they are surrounded by aliens and the unknown?
The comic book series is still in development and is set to be directed by Peyton from a script by Michael Armbruster.
