Universal Pictures seemingly stumbled with their Mummy reboot which was the launching point in their Dark Universe cinematic universe, focusing on modern incarnations of their Universal Monsters. Earning a whopping 16% on Rotten Tomatoes and barely broke even at the box office. Although, things are still full-steam-ahead with The Bride of Frankenstein.

We’ve learned that production on Bride will begin on February 1st. Shooting is expected to take place in in London and New York City. The film would be a modern retelling and set in in New York.

The story is set in contemporary New York, is centered on a young woman attending college. After being haunted by someone else’s memories, she gradually discovers that she died and was then unnaturally brought back to life.

The production start makes sense as the studio has slated the release date for Valentine’s Day 2019.

Angelina Jolie was said to be in talks to play the Bride while fellow Oscar winner Javier Bardem is officially confirmed to play Frankenstein’s monster.

Bill Condon will direct with his Beauty and The Beast cinematographer Tobias A. Schliessler (A Wrinkle In Time, The Rundown) set to reunite on the film.

Also, Carter Burwell (Goodbye Christopher Robin, In Bruges, True Grit, Hail Caesar!, No Country For Old Men) will be composing the film’s score.

The Bride of Frankenstein is set for release on February 14th, 2019.
