If there is one thing BRZRKR is not, it’s tame. This week’s issue maintains the level of viscous nature. This is just what we have come to expect from Keanu Reeves — badass action and ruthless aggression.
However, at some point we are going to need more.
Where this story is heading is still a bit of a mystery. While the seeds have been planted, it is my hope that both the main character and plot begin to get some greater depth.
With that said, BRZRKR #2 does deliver a great origin story. The premise of how our title character came into being was fascinating — and thanks to Ron Garney’s savage artwork, it was wild to see unfold. There is no question BRZRKR’s action sequences have been its greatest strength. But, as much as I get fired up seeing blood-soaked vengeance, I do find myself wanting to know more — especially what exactly are the US Government’s true intentions?
Overall BRZRKR has kept me invested with its unrelenting action.Though, at some point, the question must be asked: will that be enough?

Issues with plot advancement aside, BRZRKR #2 is a fast-paced read, and the overall story still has great potential. Adding a supernatural element to BRZRKR’s origin rather than having it be scientific or genetic in nature was a nice touch. A being created by the gods with the specific intent of being a weapon was a great direction to go in.
Finally, there is the matter of the Doctor. On the surface, she appears genuinely interested in helping BRZRKR unlock the secrets of his past. However, I cannot help but think there is something more sinister afoot. It will be interesting to see what direction Matt Kindt and Reeves go. Will BRZRKR finally decide to take control of his own fate, or remain the sadistic weapon he was created to be?
