Young Money’s Twitter tweeted out today a possible album cover for what appears to be Tha Carter V. The image has the caption “Put them 5s up”, alluding to the future release of the long awaited Carter V album. Extra emphasis on the long awaited as this thing was said to be complete back in 2015 when the single “Believe Me” with Drake dropped. Also dropped in that time frame was his Mixtape ‘Sorry for the Wait 2″. It has been many years since then and no release due in large part to a dispute with Cash Money Records which ultimately led to Weezy suing them for total control of the project so that he could release it on his own. This was said to prompt Drake’s surprise album “If your reading this it’s too late”. Thank you Drizzy.
Earlier this year the legal battle ended with an undisclosed amount and the settlement was reached. This means Wayne was now free to drop his album. My belief why he had not yet dropped it is most likely because all of the content was dated and it would not blend well with today’s sound or events. Either way the time is finally here and we will finally get our hands on a new album from the legend himself. Dedication 6 released this Christmas was reviewed very well and was a classic Weezy Mixtape.
Check out this link if you want to know why this album has yet to release and it’s crazy rollercoaster ride. Below is the mentioned tweet by Young Money.
