According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Cate Blanchett is joining the cast of Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, opposite fellow Aussie Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. She’s currently in final negotiations with the studio, as production is expected to take place in Australia. Kiwi director Taika Waititi will helm the film with recent script rewrites from screenwriter Stephany Folsom.
Her role is unknown, but the film is said to include Valkyrie, a strong god-like heroine not unlike Wonder Woman (she turned down a supporting role). There is also talk of villains Amora and Hela being apart of the film as well.
The Oscar winning actress is looking at more potential Oscar nominations for her roles in Carol and Truth.
