Fans of DC Comics have been clamouring for years for former Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam to play Oliver Queen aka the Green Arrow in Warner Bros. DC Extended Universe.
Hunnam, who looks like he’s been ripped straightfrom the pages of the comics said back in March to Yahoo Movies! he wasn’t interested in the role as it wasn’t his taste.
“I didn’t grow up a comic book fan and I haven’t really seen any of those Marvel films or the Batman films. It’s just not really my taste. I must confess I don’t really know who the Green Arrow is. It’s not part of my vision for my career or what I aspire to.”
Warner Bros. have huge plans in place for their ever growing DC Extended Universe and with the recent announcement that Avengers filmmaker Joss Whedon was going to write, produced and direct a standalone Batgirl film. It may not be too much longer before the studio brings the Green Arrow to the big screen.
If they do, now may be the right time to sign Charlie Hunnam up for the role as he’s recently had a change of mind and expressed some interest in playing the character.
During an interview with Brazilian website Omelette whilst promoting his upcoming film King Arthur: Legend of the Sword he was asked again about the topic.
“You know, I’m not a comic book fan so I don’t really know the Green Arrow. Do I look like him? Have they made a Green Arrow film? … Well, come on, DC, what’s up? Give me a call!”
Here’s the full interview:
Who knows what’s changed Hunnam’s mind on playing the Green Arrow, I’d like to think it was this conversation between him and Aquaman star Jason Momoa during CinemaCon.

For now though we can get our Green Arrow fix on the small screen with Stephen Amell portraying the character on The CW’s TV series Arrow which is closing out its fifth season.
