Today, Deadline announced that The Mindy Project & Sharp Objects star Chris Messina has joined the cast of DC Comics Birds of Prey. The upcoming R-Rated project set to star Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress. It will also star Ewan McGregor as the big baddie Black Mask who Victor Zsasz works for. Victor Zsasz, a sadistic serial killer who carves a tally mark onto himself for each of his victims.
The film is set to be directed by Cathy Yan. From a screenplay by Christina Hodson; who won the studio over after word got out about how impressive her Bumblebee screenplay is. The film also fills out their cast ahead of their January filming dates with Steven Williams (The Chi), Derek Wilson, Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse, The Tick), and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs).
