Its October and that means Halloween is almost here. In honor of my favorite holiday of the year I give to you my top thirty horror movies. Now some of these films might be on every list, but some might not. I might even have a film or two that you have never heard of. Just remember this is my top thirty. In other words these films made me cringe or just sent chills up my spine. So with no further ado here is my list.
# 24
Friday The 13th (1980)
Directed by: Sean S. Cunningham
Everyone knows of this movie. How could you not. This is where it all started for Jason Voorhees. True he is only in the film for 30 seconds at the end, but he spawned countless sequels. Not much of a plot to this film. What it lacks in a plot it makes up for in killings. It all takes place at a summer camp at Crystal Lake.
It seems the camp counselors are slowly being killed, and violently one by one. Now don’t get me wrong this is not a blood and gore fest. The killings are actually pretty tame for a slasher flick. It is just the unique way that they get killed. One instance comes to mind. Jack played by Kevin Bacon gets an arrow to his throat while lying down in bed.
As the arrow goes through his throat you can see the blood bubbling up. Maybe it is just me but I like those little touches. Every time Friday the 13th hits on the calendar all you can think of is bad luck and Jason. This movie and its sequels will always live on.
