Christan Bale Open To ‘Star Wars’ Role and Gary Oldman Wants To Join The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Jan 22, 2018

A while back it had been rumored that Oscar-winner Christian Bale (The Fighter, The Dark Knight, American Pyscho, Hostiles) was eyed for a role in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Well, it looks like that was true as Bale confirms to the HappySadConfused podcast there were talks and he’s still open to the idea of joining the galaxy far far away in the future.

“Yes, [it was] very tempting. I not only love the films going back to my childhood but also have a very long relationship with Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall because they did Empire of the Sun many years back. There was discussion, [and] I hope there will be future discussions.”

“Star Wars I’m a huge fan. Yeah, Star Wars really interests me. I’ve still got the Millennium Falcon, I’ve got the AT-AT. My daughter, her first love was Darth Vader. She absolutely adored Darth Maul. [She] stood near him at Disneyland and he growled and he’s got those teeth and he stayed in character, really wonderful performance, and she was teeny and I thought, ‘This is gonna scare the crap out of her, this is such a bad idea.’ And then she stopped and she said, ‘Daddy, I’m in love.’”

Bale previously worked with Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy on Steven Spielberg’s Empire of The Sun when he was a child actor, he also made multiple Disney films in his early days such as Newsies and Swing Kids.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see someone of his caliber take a role in future films. Sounds like his kids could help convince him as well as they seem to be big fans too. Plus, I think it would be nice to hear his real accent in films again.

Bale’s Dark Knight co-star Gary Oldman has also teased an interest to join Team Disney.

On the red carpet for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Darkest Hour actor revealed to People that he’d like to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as requested by his son.

“Marvel hasn’t called me,” he said. “But now that you mentioned it, if they’re tuning in, my son wants me to!”

Would you like to see either of these two join Marvel and Star Wars franchises?
