CinemaCon 18: Lionsgate Panel

Apr 27, 2018

To end yet another amazing year from CinemaCon; we were given a presentation by Lionsgate. Usually the studio brings a feature-length film to show the exhibitors and journalists. However, this year it was jam-packed  with upcoming movie trailers and way to many clips from their basketball comedy Uncle Drew. Star of Uncle Drew and last years hit Lil Rel took stage to host the entire event trying to get the crowd energized for Lionsgate’s upcoming slate of films.

Blindspotting

To kick off the show Lil Rel debuted yet another trailer for their basketball comedy Uncle Drew to pretty cold response. However, the studio moved along to their Oscar contending street film Blindspotting which is already getting award buzz after being shown at Sundance and SXSW. The studio then announced they are working on a new franchised based on the book series The King Killer Chronicles with director Sam Raimi.

Stars Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis come on stage to present the trailer for The Spy Who Dumped Me. Before Stranger Things producer Shawn Levi came on-screen to promote the sci-fi action film KIN. About a normal boy who finds an alien gun with immense power. That was immediately followed by a trailer for Hell Fest. A Halloween festival that goes wrong when teenagers start getting murdered.
