Comedy Central brought Chris Hardwick‘s @midnight show to SXSW for a special edition of the show which aired live exclusively on Periscope. Interactive Badge owners were allowed into the event and took place at The Parish. Hardwick was joined by comedians Arden Myrin, fellow Austinite Chris Cubas and Doug Benson. During the show, Hardwick took the opportunity to address some of the questions coming in from those streaming on Periscope and also engage in the crowd, which I was fortunate to be a part of.
The show lasted about an hour and featured some hilarious jokes from vape-pens, to masturbation to Donald Trump.
One of the highlights of the show was during #HashtagWars, which allowed viewers and attendees to participate using the hashtag #SXSWin3words to describe the festival. Fans everywhere participated, making #SXSWin3words a top trending topic at some point in the night as well.

Comedy Central embracing airing @midnight on exclusively on Periscope is an interesting decision. I’m curious to see which networks follow in their footsteps now that Periscope has grown exponentially in the past year.
