Hollywood Reporter has word that singer and actor Common (Run All Night, Smokin’ Aces, American Gangster, Wanted, Terminator Salvation) has landed a unknown role in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. His Run All Night co-star Joel Kinnaman is playing Rick Flagg, and an unconfirmed Ed Harris is said to be playing one of the main villains. We’ve seen some high profile and newbies take key roles in the film so anything is possible concerning who Common will play.
It was recently revealed that John Stewart would be our Green Lantern, when it came time to fill-out roles for Justice League. Common has been a huge fan-favorite for the role and it’s expected they’d setup a few heroes in the film, along with a bunch of DC villains. Might we be seeing a civilian John Stewart in Suicide Squad?
There’s also some early speculation the role could be Bronze Tiger, who just happens to be a member of the Squad. He’s played villains in the past with Wanted and Run All Night, so it’s not totally unbelievable to think he’d play a DC villain in the film, which is already full of baddies.
Suicide Squad is exploding onto screens on August 2016.
