Pfc. Bill Rizer and Pfc. Lance Bean are ready to rock your socks. Mondo, a purveyor of all things awesome, has announced the upcoming release of Contra on Vinyl.
Premiering at San Diego Comic Con, the limited edition Contra soundtrack will be pressed on gorgeous 180-gram yellow, orange, and red vinyl that will only be available at ComicCon (those that order online will get a red and blue edition). Featuring music by Konami Kukeiha Club and artwork by Eric Powell, this LP boasts both the Arcade and NES/FAMICOM versions of the soundtrack. With electrifying tracks that include “Base Theme” and “Energy Zone Theme,” Contra is a must own for video game music enthusiasts.
Released in the early months of 1987, Contra’s brand of run-and-gun co-op gameplay has captivated players and positioned the title as the premier action game for the NES. Inspired by the action film stars of the time, Contra takes the man versus alien fight to a different level with quick enemies that shower the screen in gunfire and force gamers to react quickly on their way to victory, all while wearing some sweet headbands and camouflage pants. Check out the description found on the original box below.
The Contra Soundtrack goes on sale Wednesday, 7/19, at 6 pm Pacific time via Mondo or, if you’re lucky enough, stop by their booth at this year’s SDCC to see their other exclusive merchandise.
