Get the empty chasms ready, because Variety reports that there is movement on Warner Bros’ plans for a Wile E. Coyote film! The site reports that the studio has secured ‘Earth to Echo’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows’ director Dave Green to helm the film, currently titled ‘Coyote vs. Acme.’ The site adds however that the studio is still looking for a screenwriter to pen a script for the film, which will be produced by ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ director Chris McKay and ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ screenwriters Jon and Josh Silberman. At one point, the Silberman brothers were attached as scribes, but perhaps that is no longer the case.
The current title for the film raises some questions. Anyone with a general familiarity with the world of ‘Looney Tunes’ and Wile E. Coyote’s role in it will know that the unlucky character always purchases the various bizarre contraptions featured in his attempts to catch the Road Runner from a company called Acme. Does this mean that the film will see its titular Coyote shift his ire towards a company whose products have let him down one too many times? Does the title actually have any real clues as to the film’s plot or is it just a clever nod to Acme’s numerous appearances in the cartoons?
