It’s official. Marvel’s first Defender and the Man Without Fear “Daredevil” has been renewed for a second season on Netflix.
Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are slated to become the new showrunners and executive producers alongside Drew Goddard, and Jeph Loeb for the Season 2. The big name missing for new season is of now former “Daredevil” showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, who released the following statement with the announcement.
“While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season. I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.”
He later confirmed on Twitter that his “previous commitments” are for an upcoming film he’s working on.
Unfortunately I won't be returning to #Daredevil due to a previous commitment in the feature world. More to come on that in the future.

The “Daredevil” news also came with a time frame for the release of Marvel’s other Netflix exclusive series “A.K.A. Jessica Jones” — later this year — and “Luke Cage” — sometime in 2016.
