The Netflix streaming service is nothing if not ambitious. In recent years they have taken on critically acclaimed original series that have attracted more and more fans to the service as well as awards for their originals. Today, Netflix has announced their most ambitious project yet.
Today, Netflix released a teaser trailer for a new series based on the Jim Henson film The Dark Crystal. The series will be titled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The ten episode series will be set in the time after the Crystal cracked and the Skeksis used their power to take over the world, killing off the Gelfling race in the process.
From the teaser, it looks like the series will use updated puppetry technology to tell the story instead of CGI, but there will be cutting edge special effects in the series to enhance the story. It has the look and feel of the original 1982 film in its production design. The series will be produced by Lisa Henson and Louise Letterrier (The Incredible Hulk).
