Dark Nights Death Metal: Robin King #1 may be the best Death Metal one-off and a must-read for those following the event, but Dark Nights Death Metal: Rise of the New God #1 may be the most important for DC Comics readers.
Yes, even if you’re not reading the Dark Nights Death Metal main line but you care about DC comics, this is something you should read. It’s a bit dense, but it’s absolutely warranted.
This seems especially important with DC Future State on the horizon.
And even if you’re reading the main line relying on Scott Snyder to make up for the fact you’re not reading the one-off, this is one you should read.
We meet a new character and one we have heard from in a while. Both of them could have a huge impact on what goes on in the upcoming chapters of Dark Nights Death Metal, and the DC Universe as a whole.
Also featured in this one-off is a short story featuring John Stewart and the Green Lanterns, written by Bryan Hill, with art by Nik Virella, colors by Hi-Fi and letters by Andwolrd Design. Hill conveys a message in this short story and did so exceptionally in just one page. It’s definitely a subject that’s been talked about before, and he addressed it as well as anyone ever has — if not better.
Also, amazing variant cover by Bosslogic. Absolutely chilling.
