The next ‘Fantastic Beasts,’ the third installment in the Warner Bros. franchise, will see the return of writer Steve Kloves, who will pen the screenplay with ‘Fantastic Beasts’ 1 and 2 scribe J.K. Rowling. David Yates (‘Harry Potter’ 5-8) is still onboard to direct the threequel, after helming the last two.
Kloves is popular for writing seven out of the eight mainline ‘Harry Potter’ films (he did not write ‘Order of the Phoenix’). Those films consist of ‘Sorcerer’s Stone,’ ‘Chamber of Secrets,’ ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ ‘Goblet of Fire,’ ‘Half-Blood Prince,’ ‘Deathly Hallows – Part 1,’ and ‘Deathly Hallows – Part 2.’ He also co-wrote Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’
Moreover, the premise of the franchise is below:
In the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ series, Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), a collector and tamer of mystical beasts, makes his way through the secret wizard communities of New York, Paris and London during the late 1920s.
Additionally, Jessica Williams, who had a small part in ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,’ will have a bigger role in this third film. Her character is Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks, a teacher at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Other returning cast members include Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Ezra Miller (Credence), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), and Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald). Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange) is seemingly returning as well.
There are not many details on this movie, but the settling will be Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The film will also address a lot of unanswered plot questions.
Meanwhile, composer James Newton Howard (‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy) and supervising art director Martin Foley (‘Hugo’) will both return.
Also, it seems that production designer Stuart Craig and cinematographer Philippe Rousselot could be returning. Craig has been the production designer of all the ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films. Rosselot has shot the Guy Ritchie ‘Sherlock Holmes’ films, as well as the first and second ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films.
Further, filming will begin February 2020, at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom. A spring start has been reaffirmed by Deadline, while February is from actor Dan Fogler.
The untitled ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ will release November 12, 2021.
