Move over Star Wars Christmas Special, Powered Geek Box is giving us something worth celebrating from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away… this holiday season. Powered Geek Box has really found their stride with their new themes and December’s Star Wars/Christmas box is by far their best offering yet. Immediately upon opening the red and white package I audibly yelled with excitement, startling my wife. The instant surprise of Jack Skellington in his Santa Claus attire and a sleek, black C2-B5 unit from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story made me feel like Christmas has come twice this year thanks to Powered Geek Box.
Star Wars is definitely the shinning star on the to of this Powered Geek Box Christmas tree so it only seems appropriate to start presenting these items first. As I mentioned above the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Funko POP! featuring a C2-B5 was the first of many happy surprises in December’s box. As an avid POP! collector I’m also happy to receive one in a box, especially one I wouldn’t necessarily purchase myself. But this black, imperial, R2-D2 like droid is so awesomely metal and will make an excellent addition to any collection.
Our next Star Wars item is especially usual in my household as we love a good to go cup. The Star Wars 12 oz. BPA free straw cup is cute, features many of our favorite Star Wars characters, all while preventing pesky spills and keeping your, water, coffee, or soda ice cold. This cup is already in heavy rotation around our house and everyone seems to really be enjoying it.
In you live in California then this next Star Wars item will be a god send from Yoda himself. Thanks to a “No Plastic Bags” Law (which I’m all for, by the way) we now have to bring our own bags to the store. So whenever I receive a reusable bag its now become a scarred item and that goes tenfold when it features something amazingly cool as Star Wars art from the films original release. The Star Wars Packable Tote is the perfect item for the homemaking nerd who is trying to do their part to save the environment.
Every good geek box comes with themed apparel and December’s Powered Geek Box is no exception. Subscription holders have the opportunity to receive a couple of different Star Wars themed t-shirts but no matter what design you receive the force is strong in both. Our box featured a brown, short sleeved t-shirt featuring Darth Vader and his menacing tie-fighter with the classic Star Wars font. Even though I’m not a huge fan of the color, the classic design and look is a huge plus as I love the retro Star Wars marketing material. Another item that will go into heavy rotation in the Walsh household.
Last and unfortunately least of our Star Wars items was a pack of Star Wars: Perspective trading cards. If I were still 10 years old I would have gathered these up and instantly put them in plastic along with the million other trading cards I had, but unfortunately I have grown up and there is no room for trading cards of any kind in my life, even when they feature Chewbacca and Yoda.
And finally we get to our Christmas items both of which are pretty darn cute and would be a welcome addition to any household during the holidays. The Jack Skellington POP! Plush doll was an immediate hit in our house as we are all huge Nightmare Before Christmas fans and buy/display as much associated merch as we can. So this little guy when from box to decoration in about 2 seconds and was the center piece of our Christmas tree. And my daughter absolutely love the “Do You Want To Build A Snowman” kit and spend a good part of the day messing around with the foamy goop and snowman body parts.
Without sounding to cliche Powered Geek Box brought a north pole’s worth of Christmas cheer and Star Wars goodness with their December box. If they continue to put out quality boxes with featuring quality items like this from fan favorite franchises, I have no doubt 2017 will have big things in store for Powered Geek Box and its subscribers.
