Today, it was announced that the final international hurdle between Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Fox was met in Mexico. That means that the long-in-development acquisition of Fox by Disney will be officially completed March 20th at 12:02 am. Like many comic book movie, fans have learned this will legally allow Marvel Studios to integrate the X-Men and Fantastic Four into their future films going forward. Something the studio never expected when it began in 2008. However, the real world consequences to the acquisition are that 4,000 Fox employees will be laid off when they are integrated into the Disney platform.
No announcement is expected to be made for any future Marvel films until Avengers: Endgame debuts. However, we may end up waiting until San Diego Comic-Con for any real update on the integration of the mutant world…
