Disney’s Jungle Cruise Adds Composer James Newton Howard (‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Fantastic Beasts’)

James Newton Howard will score the upcoming action-adventure film ‘Jungle Cruise.’

Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Non-Stop,’ ‘The Shallows,’ ‘The Commuter’) is the director. The screenplay was originally by J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. Then, Glenn Ficarra & John Requa wrote a draft, followed by a final draft by Michael Green.

Howard has an extensive resume, especially with M. Night Shyamalan. At a whopping eight films, he has done ‘The Sixth Sense,’ ‘Unbreakable,’ ‘Signs,’ ‘The Village,’ ‘Lady in the Water,’ ‘The Happening,’ ‘The Last Airbender,’ ‘and ‘After Earth.’ He has also done franchises, such as ‘The Hunger Games’ films, ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, and ‘Fantastic Beasts.’

Howard will also return to score ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’. Moreover, the film now has a late fall shoot, and will most likely release in 2021.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti and Jack Whitehall. The movie based on the Disney theme park attraction of the same name. The story follows a boat captain who takes his sister and her brother on a mission to find a tree believed to possess healing powers.

‘Jungle Cruise’ is set to release on July 24, 2020 by Walt Disney Pictures.
