Dark Horse Comics

Have you been looking for a great horror comic? Well I think I found one that I can highly recommend. Yes Death Head is going to bring back the horror genre in comics. Yes I know Superheroes are the in thing right now. Which is all good, but we need heroes like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, and Michael Myers back in our lives. The new name in terror coming to a comic store near you is The Plague Doctor.

The comic starts off with a husband and wife taking a break from their crazy life with kids. They decide to do some hiking. Everything was going great and they were having an enjoyable afternoon until they stumble upon an old village nestled deep within the woods. From here is where you will be sitting on the edge of your seat. The things they find and also the situations they get into are just plain creepy. Now would you expect anything less from a Plague Doctor? They were creepy back in the sixteen hundreds when they had to cure the disease. They are just a nightmare waiting to happen these days. To me this mask is more frightening then a hockey maskDeath Var (sorry Jason). Not only are the married couple having a bad time, so are their kids. Yes back at home where the kids are at school things are getting bizarre also. I’m not going to go on from here because I don’t want to ruin anything for you.  Let’s just say surprises will be coming and I will not spoil it for you.

Nick and Zack Keller know how to captivate their audience.  Right from the get go they grab your attention and take you for a ride that will make you scream non-stop. In my opinion this could be made into a great screenplay, and be adapted to the big screen. Yes I know it’s only one issue but to me it’s that good. Let’s not forget about the art by Joanna Estep. She does such a great job of bringing the Doctor to life. From the long black coat to the eerily pointed nose of the mask.

This is a great comic and I hope the beginning of more to come from Dark Horse and the Keller brothers. It will hit the comic book stores on July 15. Until then stay out of the woods!!!
