Today, Iron Man and The Lion King director Jon Favreau took to his Twitter to announce the first two stars of Disney’s upcoming “live-action” reboot of The Lion King. He announced that Han Solo and Spider-Man: Homecoming star Donald Glover has been cast as Simba. While he announced that James Earl Jones will return to play Mufasa. This will be the second beloved character James Earl Jones returned to play after returning as Darth Vader in Rogue One.
While Disney claims this is a live-action reboot of the classic animated film it should be noted no “humans” were actually in The Lion King unlike Mowgli in The Jungle Book. So it will be interesting seeing if this turns out to be more a computer generated retelling. Or a motion-capture performance of sorts by the actors.
