Doom Patrol
DC Universe
Season 1, Episode 12: “Cyborg Patrol
The Doom Patrol team up with Silas Stone to rescue Cyborg from the Bureau of Normalcy’s Ant Farm.
Cyborg’s character arc in ‘Doom Patrol’ has been one of the most interesting ones to follow, given that it’s completely unpredictable. Unlike the rest of the team, he doesn’t have any backstory with the Doom Patrol in the comics, so everything that is happening to him is a complete surprise every episode. With that in mind, episode 12 took Cyborg where I never expected him to, surpassing all my expectations. While every other character is coming to terms with who they are, Vic seems to be spiraling downward. His story is tragic and gripping, with Joivan Wade delivering a fantastic performance every episode.
Aside from the Cyborg storyline, the rest of the episode is fairly lighthearted. Cliff, Jane, and Rita all got up to some pretty hilarious hijinks. It’s nice to see an episode where the characters aren’t all doom and gloom.
Overall, “Cyborg Patrol” is a fantastic stepping stone in the story of Victor Stone and a great showcase of what the Doom Patrol is like with less baggage.
