No matter what ups and downs the film industry takes, there will always be two certainties: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and him starring in something. Last year alone saw him in three projects: a cameo in ‘Fighting with My Family,’ ‘Jumanji: The Next Level,’ and ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ with Jason Statham. In a move that will come to the surprise of no one, Johnson recently confirmed in an Instagram Q&A that a sequel to the ‘Fast & Furious’ spin-off is in development.
“We are developing now the next film, the next [Hobbs & Shaw] movie, and I’m pretty excited about it. [We] just gotta figure out the creative right now, and the direction we’re going to go.”
No release date, production date, or director was mentioned. ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Deadpool 2’ director David Leitch helmed the 2019 flick, with ‘Fast’ alum Chris Morgan and ‘Iron Man 3’ co-writer on the script.
The most recent installment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, ‘F9: The Fast Saga,’ was delayed from its May 22, 2020 release date to April 2, 2021 due to the Coronavirus.
