Everything LucasFilm Announced at the Disney Investors Day

Dec 11, 2020

Wow! Yesterday we got a ton of news from Disney Studios about their projects for the next few years. LucasFilm came out swigging with a slew of new projects and some info on stuff we already knew about. Check out the full list below if you missed out on the event.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

While we knew this project was coming, Disney still dropped a major bomb and announced Hayden Christensen will be returning as Darth Vader to star alongside Ewan Macgregor and the story will take place 10 years after “Return of the Jedi”

Rangers of the New Republic

No details were provided on Rangers of the New Republic but if you’ve been watching Mandalorian you probably have a good idea on what this series could be about. It will likely feature Cara Dune as she was recently appointed a Ranger of the New Republic on The Mandalorain and the show will tie into Mando and the next series on our list.

Ahsoka

This highly anticipated and rumored spin-off will feature Rosario Dawson returning as Ahsoka Tano as she goes on a quest that will likely involve her confrontation with Thrawn. Little is known about the show as now but LucasFilm did indicate it would tie heavily into Rangers of the New Republic.

Andor

We knew Andor was coming starring Diego Luna from Rogue One, but now we know it will dive into the seedy underbelly of the rebellion and be LucasFilm’s first real foray into the spy genre.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

The Bad Batch were featured on the latest season of The Clone Wars, and are essentially a rag tag team of misfit clones who do the dirty work for the Republic. The series looks to be full of action an Star Wars lore.

Star Wars: Visions

Star Wars: Visions is a new animated project from Lucasfilm that will feature stories from across the Star Wars Galaxy in a new anime anthology.

Lando

Lando is another project that has been hotly rumored for a while following some teases in The Rise of Skywalker, little is known about the show other that it will be helmed by Dear White People creator Justin Simien. If I had to guess though I’d bet we see both Donald Glover and Billy Dee Williams appear.

The Acolyte

Rumors have been swirling about a female centric Star Wars project that would be inspired by Indiana Jones and have heavy action and marital arts, and that seems to perfectly fit with the description of The Acolyte. This series will take place during the High Republic and feature the emergence of the Dark Side. The show will be oversee by Leslye Headland.

A Droid Story

Little is known about this upcoming feature to Disney Plus other than it will feature two of our favorite Star Wars droids, C-3PO and R2D2 as they embark on a new adventure with a new character.

Rogue Squadron

And finally on the Star Wars front we have a brand new feature directed by Patty Jenkins dubbed Rogue Squadron. The film will feature the famed Rogue Squadron as they suit up and take to the skies on a new adventure.

Untitled Star Wars film

Taika Waititi is currently writing his own entry into the Star Wars universe as he is set to direct a currently untitled Star Wars film. Kennedy did explain this film would be steeped in Waititi’s signature humor and style

Willow

Willow returns in an all new tale set 50 years after the original film, with Warrick Davis returning in the title role

Children of Blood and Bone

Lucasfilm is also set to release a brand new original film based on the New York Times bestseller from author Tomi Adeyemi “Children of Blood & Bone”

Indiana Jones

Last but not least James Mangold is bringing Indiana Jones back to the big screen. Little is known about the project but you can bet we see Harrison Ford return in some capacity
