Exclusive: James Gunn seems to have found his first villain for ‘The Suicide Squad.’
Benicio Del Toro is in the top choice to play one of the villains of the film, currently under the codename “The Mayor.” Not much is known about the character other than he is an “irascible old warrior who lives for war.” Antonio Banderas is another name that came up for the role at one point.
Del Toro is known for his roles in the ‘Sicario’ movies and ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’ He has also worked with James Gunn on the ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ movies.
‘The Suicide Squad’ will be written and directed by James Gunn and stars Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, and Viola Davis. It will hit theaters in August 2021.
