It was recently reported by Entertainment Weekly that Henry Zaga will play the role of Sunspot in Josh Boone’s New Mutants. Omega Underground actually heard this name back in early April but was asked politely not to share.
However, we have another possible cast member we can share.
Newcomer Blu Hunt (Originals) is said to be in the mix for the role of Danni Moonstar aka Mirage. Blu happens to have a Native American background on her Grandmother’s side which would be key for the actress playing Mirage.
Hunt’s social media might help support this as she’s following Josh Boone, Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, and co-writer/producer Knate Lee on Instagram.
Director Josh Boone just happens to be following Hunt back as well as new addition Henry Zaga.
Another newcomer that has been linked to the role is Queen Sugar and Days of Our Lives actress True O’Brien. Although, we’re leaning towards Blu landing the role.
New Mutants begins filming this June-July in Boston with a release date of April 13, 2018.
