EXCLUSIVE: Giancarlo Esposito and Jamie Foxx On Shortlist For Role In Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’

Exclusive: I’ve learned a few more notable actors are in the mix for Warner Bros. and DC’s ‘The Batman.’

‘Django Unchained’ star Jamie Foxx and ‘Breaking Bad’ alum Giancarlo Esposito are on a shortlist for a major role in Matt Reeves’ first ‘Batman’ movie. Character details for the role remain under wraps, with Riddler being one possibility. It’s unknown if Reeves has met with Foxx or Esposito yet.

Foxx’s notable credits include Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’ and the Ray Charles biopic ‘Ray’. He is no stranger to comic book movies, having played Electro in Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’

Giancarlo Esposito is best known for his role as Gus Fring in AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad’ and its spin-off ‘Better Call Saul.’ He will also be appearing in the Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ series ‘The Mandalorian.’ MCUCosmic recently reported that Esposito is also up for a major role in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Robert Pattinson will play the next iteration of the Caped Crusader. The film will feature Riddler, Catwoman, Firefly, and Penguin.

Reeves serves as both writer and director, and be reuniting with cinematographer Greig Fraser.

‘The Batman’ will hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
