Producer Guillermo del Toro and director Andre Ovredal (Autopsy of Jane Doe) begin filming their upcoming horror film using the title Scary Stories To Tell In Dark from the series of horror novels very soon and we have some plot/character details to share.
The film follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.
Here’s is some exclusive information we were able to get concerning the film and it’s leading characters.
They are casting for two leading roles which are Stella and Latino-American character Ramon Morales. It also sounds this will be taking place on Halloween in 1969-1973, as Ramon is heading towards Canada to avoid the Vietnam War draft and bumping into Stella who is being pursed by a group of bullies.
[RAMON MORALES ] MALE. 18-21, American Latino, he’s a good-looking, tough and somewhat disaffected youth who helps Stella and her friends escape a group of bullies on Halloween. An out of towner on his way to Canada to escape the Vietnam draft, he gets pulled into this scary adventure by the close kinship he feels with Stella… LEAD
We’ve also learned the film’s crew includes The Autopsy of Jane Doe cinematographer Roman Osin, Jacob Latter’s remake production designer David Brisbin, and Stranger Things creature effects supervisor Mike Elizalde.
Filming will begin this month on August 27th in Toronto with a wrap on October 26th.
