EXCLUSIVE: ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ Recasting The Role of Hobbs’ Daughter Samantha

Jul 30, 2018

Hobbs and Shaw will be the first attempt by Universal Pictures to spin-off their Fast and Furious franchise. Family is a key element of the franchise and it looks like Hobbs and Shaw won’t be any different.

Directed by Atomic Blonde/Deadpool 2’s David Leitch starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham with new additions Idris Elba as the film’s villain and Mission: Impossible – Fallout’s Vanessa Kirby as Shaw’s MI6 Agent sister.

There was a character breakdown that revealed we’d see Hobbs’ family including his brothers via our pals at ThatHashtagShow.

Well, it looks like that’s not the only part of the Hobbs family they’ll be casting for the film.

Omega Underground has learned that they’ll be recasting the role of Hobbs’ daughter Samantha Hobbs, she was previously played by Eden Estrella.

Recasting her role might suggest that Samantha’s part is getting a little larger than previous installments and more than a couple of brief cameos. Will the film thrust Hobbs’ family/daughter into the fray?

The young ladies auditioning for Samantha includes newcomers Sophia Rose [pictured], Lara Murray Palma, and Aalyrah Caldwell. The audition read does hint to Sam not having contact with the rest of the Hobbs clan while going over a family tree assignment for school. Could they be a criminal element he doesn’t want his daughter exposed to?

As we’ve previously reported filming is set for London, Atlanta, and Hawaii beginning this September and will wrap sometime in January.

Universal has set the film’s release date for August 2nd, 2019.
