James Gunn is neck deep in pre-production on DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad,’ and that includes casting a whole slew of new characters.
The GWW has learned that Gunn is eyeing Isabela Moner and Daniela Melchior for the role of “Ratcatcher,” a genderbent version of the Batman villain of the same name. There are other actresses in the mix as well that we weren’t able to identify.
Ratcatcher will be “Latina, an idealist, an innocent, a complainer, a warrior for goodness, and a lazy millennial all wrapped into one.” In the comics, Ratcatcher is an exterminator who can communicate with rats and has an affinity for poisonous gas.
Moner, best known for ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ and ‘Instant family,’ is starring in Paramount’s upcoming live-action ‘Dora The Explorer’ movie.
Melchior is known for her role in ‘Praque Mayer.’ She seems to be the favorite for the role.
Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, and Jai Courtney are set to star in ‘The Suicide Squad,’ which will be written and directed by James Gunn. It will hit theaters in August 2021.
