GWW has obtained new information that indicates a ‘Secret Warriors‘ project is in early development at Marvel Studios. We have no other info other than Marvel is currently looking for a writer. It is unclear at this time if it will be a series for Disney+ or a theatrical film, but this seems like the perfect project for D+. As expected, Kevin Feige is set to produce.
‘Secret Warriors‘ was originally an underground team consisting of Nick Fury, Quake (Daisy Johnson), Phobos, Yo Yo Rodriguez, Hellfire (J.T. Slade), Sebastian Druid, and Stonewall (Jerry Sledge). The team has only gotten 2 comic runs based off the same name, one in 2009 and another in 2017, and has since been adapted in previous Marvel media. Once in the popular Marvel series: ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ in season 3, episode 17 ‘The Team.’ Then adapted into an animated television film for Disney Channel and DisneyXD titled ‘Marvel’s Rising; Secret Warriors’ which featured a new team consisting of Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Patriot (Rayshaun Lucas), Inferno (Dante Pertuz), America Chavez, Squirrel Girl, and Captain Marvel.
It is unknown if this Secret Warriors adaptation will be based from the 2009 run, or the animated version. I personally believe it will be based off the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D version of the team since that groundwork has been set. I do hope Feige plans to keep Quake for the future of the MCU. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is now on its final season, this could definitely follow wherever the series leaves off.
