EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Hackford In Talks To Direct Stephen King’s ‘Duma Key’ Adaptation

Feb 11, 2019

UPDATE: Legendary, Optx Entertainment, and producers David Chackler, EJ Meyers, and Ethan Terra are no longer involved with the project.

We are in the golden age of Stephen King adaptations.

After spending years in development, ‘Dolores Claiborne’ director Taylor Hackford is in talks to helm the upcoming adaption of ‘Duma Key’ The Pic has a script originally written by Tom Holland.

The book of the same name follows a man named Edward Freemantle as he loses everything and moves to an island on the coast of Florida called Duma Key. There, he takes up painting as a hobby to keep him occupied, but he soon realizes that his paintings hold a dark power.

Hackford is currently in pre-production on a movie called ‘Signal Hill’, which will star Elizabeth Banks, Anthony Mackie, and Jamie Foxx. The last update on the movie was in October 2017, so there’s a chance ‘Duma Key’ happens first if Hackford signs on. His reps have no comment at this time.
