From Indie star to studio paychecks, Ezra Miller has had quite the career to date. Meant to be the face of “Queer Hollywood,” after stealing everybody’s heart’s in “Perks of Being a Wallflower“. It is safe to say that this has not been the case. A rising personality, Ezra Miller shined. Standing up to gender-based violence.
From being cast in Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (A Harry Potter prequel series) to being handpicked by Zack Snyder to portray Barry Allen/The Flash in Zack Snyder’s DCEU [DC Extended Universe], it seemed as if Ezra Miller was cruising along to being a household name.
Fans were torn over Ezra’s casting as Barry Allen. During that period the CW network began creating the Arrow-verse; spinning off a Flash show with their own star in Grant Gustin who fans fell in love with immediately. This did not stop Ezra from creating their own version of the character in a brief cameo in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then coming full circle in a leading role in Justice League (both versions).
With these large roles in two different Warner Brothers IPs, Ezra was in a position to be the face of a more accepting Hollywood.
The Timeline
In 2020 pictures of an incident started circulating. A woman being seemingly choked out by Ezra Miller started raising questions, but no arrests were ever made. Nor did Ezra ever comment on this incident. Most people have debated whether it was a joke or not, and the situation seemed to blow over. However, not before Warner Brothers took notice. Though the studio got nervous, Warner Brothers made plans to move forward with the actor. This decision worked for a while, that is until recent events.
While filming their first solo film as The Flash, it was reported that the actor would have frequent meltdowns on set. At times this would halt production entirely. Due to Ezra being the center of the film, and in almost every frame. For anyone who does not know, productions like this, and of this caliber, are giant. Even the smallest delay can cause a domino effect that costs time and money; both being very valuable in Hollywood.
A Thinly Veiled threat later…
Actors and social media use can be a really great mix or a terribly tragic one. Instagram, the popular Facebook-owned, picture based platform saw the creation of an account by Ezra earlier this year. One video sticks out in particular. In this video, Ezra Miller is in a car and addressing the local KKK chapter in the area. Usually, I promote standing up and speaking out against these groups who spread hate and fear, however, Ezra’s video was very cringe-worthy, and included bizarre threats.
Soon, Ezra Miller having been arrested multiple times in Hawaii, for misconduct and assault, would be in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. This came a couple of weeks after WB had delayed The Flash from 2022 to 2023. Fans were confused because the delay wasn’t in line with the rest of the pandemic delays, this delay was about something else.
EZRA MILLER MISSING?
About a week ago, news came to light that a Native American family had filed a court order against Ezra Miller for “grooming” their daughter. Though now 18 years old, Takota Iron Eyes, an activist, was 12 when she hit it off with Ezra. It is reported that Ezra would frequently bring the girl on the set of films they were in. Other reports allege payment was made for her to transfer to a school that was closer to Ezra’s job in London. The family reported that Ezra tried to stay in the same bed as Takota when they were 23, and she was 12. Using drugs, alcohol and delusions of grandeur, the family reports that their daughter is now on the run with Miller, and is not in control.
However a few days after this news broke Takota made a social media post stating her parents were lying, and are wrong about her relationship with Ezra. Saying that she is in control of what she is doing and that her parents were just upset she left.
Instagram taunting
The story continues as Ezra Miller deletes their Instagram after making multiple memes taunting authorities who are attempting to serve the actor. Making light of a situation leads me to believe they do not understand how serious this actually is becoming. As if things could not get worse for the once-promising actor, now a family in Massachusetts has filed a protection order against Ezra. The orders stems from reports of Ezra brandishing a gun, and threatening them after a verbal confrontation occurred over nationality.
It is becoming apparent that the clues have always been there, but people weren’t looking in the right place. With the arrests and events in Hawaii, Ezra seems guilty. The meltdowns on the film set show a concerning trend. Is Ezra Miller guilty of the two latest accusations? Public perception of someone cannot stand in the way of a fair and proper trial. In the United States, where the case(s) would be heard, the assumption is somone is innocent until proven guilty.
Could the truth be a bit of both? Of course, and I guarantee it is.
The problem of Untreated Mental illness
We see the effects every day of untreated mental illness. Mass shootings and gun violence are a normal sight on the nightly news. We have a serious problem in the United States of America. Mental illness is a serious topic ; one that must be addressed. Help needs to be readily available to those in need. Only then can we begin to start fixing the problem.
Our Barry Allen is now missing. After a crisis of public perception. Leaving us all to ask the question, “Where is Ezra Miller”?
