Flexispot C5 Ergo Chair – For Your Office

Feb 11, 2024

Thanks to FlexiSpot for providing this chair for review.

The FlexiSpot C5 Ergo Chair is an ergonomic office chair that offers a variety of features to promote comfort and support during long periods of sitting. Having recently reviewed the FlexiSpot C7 Pro, I was expecting a big difference between them. What I found is the C5 Ergo is plenty comfortable and will suit many users. I do prefer the lumbar support on the C7 Pro, however, because it’s more pronounced. But I have a history of back issues and I only sit for half of the working day (I stand the other half). This is not going to be a common requirement for most users. Considering it’s asking price of $269.99 (currently on sale for $209.99), the C5 is a good value. It also is available in both black and gray color options.

Assembly took about ten minutes. In part, this was speedy because I have assembled a dozen similar chairs, at least. There was a small amount of styrofoam also included. During unboxing, I was pleased to discover the casters (wheels) have a rubberized coating. For those with hardwood floors, you will be happy as this means your floors should not scratch.

The lumbar support is not adjustable, but it works well for me. The seat cushion is quite different from the Pro model I referenced earlier. Instead of a breathable material, it is a more common cushion style. Consequently, I found even my brief sitting periods to be warmer on my bottom. The adjustable arm rests are more firm than on the Pro model, meaning my body weight does not move them as easily. By pressing the button underneath the arm rests, you can move them forward and backwards, and even left to right and to a slight angle left or right. In short, they are highly adjustable, relative to other chairs. This matters for folks who type a lot and need to find the perfect spot for their elbows.

On both this C5 and the Pro, I love the feeling of leaning backwards. There is enough resistance that you can really sink in and enjoy it rather than feeling like you’re going to flip backwards. The backrest recline can be locked as well. The headrest is also adjustable in height simply by pulling on or pressing it.

High level overview:

  • Ergonomic Design: The chair features a curved backrest with adjustable lumbar support, a headrest, and adjustable armrests to help you maintain good posture and reduce strain on your back, neck, and shoulders.
  • Adjustability: The seat height, backrest tilt, and armrest position can all be adjusted to fit your individual needs. The backrest reclines up to 130 degrees, and the seat height can be adjusted from 17.7 to 20.9 inches.
  • Breathable Mesh: The chair is made with high-density mesh that is both comfortable and breathable, making it ideal for use in hot or humid environments.
  • Durable Construction: The chair is built with a sturdy steel frame and is rated to support up to 220 pounds.

When making a decision, it of course comes down to price, durability and comfort. Since the latter cannot be tested before purchasing the chair, paying attention to the chair’s specifications and materials is important. As for durability, the chair comes with a 2-year warranty on parts and a 1-year warranty on labor, in case you’re concerned. Also, I can vouch for the FlexiSpot brand as I have used many of their chairs

Overall, the FlexiSpot C5 Ergo Chair is a good option for people who are looking for a comfortable and affordable ergonomic office chair. It offers a variety of features to help you maintain good posture and reduce strain, and it is backed by a warranty. Chairs, in my opinion, are a personal choice. I think we’ve all sat is cheap, old, or somewhat broken down chairs that we find more comfortable than chairs that cost several hundreds of dollars. So take your time and choose wisely.
