FlexiSpot XR4 Power Swivel Rocker Recliner

Mar 15, 2024

FlexiSpot once again nails it with their XR4 recliner. It’s comfortable for hours, has swivel and rocking features, and a motor (“power”) to bring the out the leg rest while moving the headrest down. FlexiSpot call it the “all-in-one lounge companion”. I get that. It’s elegant, coming in both dark brown and cream colors. The puffy body with a synthetic leather finish fits in nicely in my home office. But I can just as perfectly picture it in my living room or bedroom.

Key Features

  • Customizable recliner, perfect for reading, napping, gaming, or watching a movie
  • Dynamic swivel with up to 270 degrees of freedom
  • Rocker base for gentle rocking (my kids love this)
  • Adjustable headrest
  • Persistent lumbar support, regardless of the headrest position
  • Water-resistent, easy to clean synthetic leather cover is easy to clean
  • Integrated USB-A port for charging your devices

Setup

The XR4 arrived in two boxes. The heaviest weighed 83 pounds. I recommend two people carry it around until it’s unboxed. But I was able to lift and move it myself. Again, I don’t recommend that but it is possible. After unboxing the four sections of the rocker, I assembled them easily by first connecting the power line to the AC adapter, and then sliding three sections (arms, headrest) into the base section, which is the heaviest. From unboxing to rocking was about ten minutes. After wresting my kids off of the rocker, I slid it into my office and immediately started rocking and testing the recliner. The XR4 is very comfortable! I’m 5’11” and while the FlexiSpot website suggests the footrest is for people up to 5’9″, it was fine for me.

Dimensions

  • Width: 35.9″
  • Depth: 40.9″
  • Height: 40.4″
  • Weight Capacity: 300 lbs
  • Recommended height: 5’3″ – 6’3″

use Cases

Over the past week, I’ve enjoyed the XR4 more than the leather chair I previously had in my office, which cost about $150 more than the XR4. I used the chair mostly as a rocker, while watching various media on my 42″ TV, which sits on a shelf at about 36″ from the ground. Other testing methods included playing PS5 on the same TV and reading on my Kindle while reclined.

What makes a recliner great

For me, a recliner is great when it accomplishes the following:

  • No creaks or unwanted noises while in use
  • Multi-hour comfort (if I’m not testing, I rarely sit for more than an hour)
  • Aesthetically pleasing

The XR4 checks these boxes and comes in at a reasonable sale price of $399.99. The MSRP, however, is $589.99. I understand affordable is a relative term, but, for me, having purchased a more expensive recliner recently, I find the XR4’s sale price to be reasonable for most shoppers. It’s comfortable, versatile, and has helped me relax recently.

Thanks to FlexiSpot for providing the XR4 for review.
