‘Flight of The Concords’ Creator James Bobin Confirms He’ll Direct ‘MIB 23’

May 9, 2016

New Zealand director James Bobin has confirmed to CinemaBlend that he’ll be directing Sony’s Men In Black and Jump Street crossover film titled MIB 23.

“The challenge is a tonal challenge. It really is. Because both worlds are so fantastic, and then it’s one of those things where you think, ‘How is this possibly going to work?’ And then you read the script and go, ‘I get it! This is amazing!’ It’s fantastic and it’s really fun. In a way I’m trying to imagine neither of those things exist before, and then what would it be together, and that ends with a very interesting place to be. But I love both worlds very much, and Jonah [Hill] and Channing [Tatum] are hilarious, so they’ll be just, you know!”

Bobin might have recently taken on more family friendly films with Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted and Alice Through The Looking Glass, but he co-created The Flight of The Concords and helped create Sasha Baron Cohen characters Ali G, Borat, and Brüno for the Ali G Show. Proving he has the chops for adult-oriented comedy, which Jump Street is known for.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are attached to reprise their roles in the film.
