Fox Grabs Rights For DC Comics ‘Black Lightning’ TV Series

Sep 10, 2016

A few weeks ago we had heard that Arrow and Supergirl producer Greg Berlanti was developing yet another DC Comics property for television in Black Lightning. It was unknown if the show would land on The CW like almost every other DC series (Supergirl debuted on CBS but has since moved to The CW).

However, Deadline is reporting that FOX has picked up the upcoming show. FOX already has another DC Comics property on its network with Gotham; now entering it’s third season this fall. They also have Lucifer a lesser known DC/Vertigo property on the network. The show will be written by husband-and-wife duo Mara Brock Akil & Salim Akil.

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.

Black Lightning will debut on FOX
