‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Star Wars’ Actress Jessica Henwick Joins ‘Iron Fist’ As Colleen Wing

Apr 1, 2016

Jessica Henwick has landed the role of Colleen Wing in Marvel/Netflix’s Iron Fist series according to Entertainment Weekly.

Jessica Henwick has landed the coveted role of martial arts expert Colleen Wing in the Netflix series. A martial arts expert running her own dojo, Colleen will serve as an invaluable ally to Iron Fist, aka Danny Rand (Finn Jones), as he returns to his life in New York.

UPDATE: Marvel has confirmed the casting and has included a teasing image.

“I’m very excited to have Jessica as our Colleen Wing,” said Executive Producer and Showrunner, Scott Buck. “She’s shown us that she can bring both a sense of quiet strength as well as an engaging vulnerability to the character.”

“Jessica brings both a youthful vitality mixed with a strong sense of authority crucial to the character,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “And as anyone who’s seen her in ‘Game of Thrones’ can attest, she can throw down with the best of them, making her the perfect Colleen Wing.”

The British actress is best known to American audiences from her small roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Game of Thrones, making her a Thrones alum not unlike Iron Fist himself Finn Jones.

Her role is expected to be quite large, as Wing in the comics along with Misty Knight (played by Simone Missick) from Luke Cage were known as the supporting crime fighting duo Daughters of The Dragon. They would eventually become main players as Defenders themselves and take over the Heroes For Hire comic for a time. Colleen and Misty were both intimate with Danny Randy played by Finn Jones, it’s expected that there could be a romance or love triangle in the series.

I’m expecting the role to be seriously large as she’s the second actor to be cast in the show, which usually means a major involvement in the show.

Colleen was on our wishlist months ago, and was recently linked as a potential lead character, along with villain Davos aka Steel Serpent. To say we’re stoked about her inclusion in the series is an understatement.

Production is expected to begin soon and could get released on Netflix in Daredevil‘s March-April slot of next year.
