Gerard McMurray will write and direct Lionsgate’s upcoming hitman film ‘The Silver Bear.’ Michael B. Jordan (‘Creed,’ ‘Black Panther’) will both produce and star in the adaptation of the novel by Derek Haas. There are four other books in the series, which could be made into films.
McMurray’s recent film was ‘The First Purge,’ the fourth (and highest grossing) installment of the Blumhouse franchise. His feature film debut was Netflix’s ‘Burning Sands.’ Moreover, he was able to direct an episode of the upcoming ‘Twilight Zone’ reboot on CBS All Access, premiering April 1.
Jordan and McMurray will be collaborating once again for ‘The Silver Bear.’ The two were part of Ryan Coogler’s ‘Fruitvale Station,’ where Jordan was the lead and McMurray was an associate producer.
Further, the film is about Columbus (Jordan), the most feared and respected hitman in the criminal underworld. The screenplay is from Frank Baldwin. He wrote ‘Cold Pursuit,’ now in theaters, and the upcoming television series ‘The Warriors,’ a remake of the 1979 film.
There are no other details regarding other cast, crew, or a release date.
