Benjamin Percy promised a horror story with Ghost Rider. Without question, he delivers in the series-opening issue. Much like he did with Wolverine from the jump, Percy has set the stage to enhance the lore of another legendary Marvel character.

Although, Johnny Blaze is one we haven’t heard from as much of late. Readers find out very quickly why he’s been on the sideline for sometime. Although, not all is as it seems in Johnny’s life. And just when you think it’s safe to judge certain characters by their cover, Percy and Cory Smith introduce another character who proves that idea wrong.
In a recent interview with GWW’s TLDR Podcast, Percy promised some new characters in this series. One is an ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. readers meet in Ghost Rider #1. This character fits the horror vibe and screams badass.
Of course, what brings everything together in this horror-style comic is Smith’s art. While Ghost Rider and some of the other characters give off cool yet scary vibes, there are some monsters that are downright nasty. And this is only the start for Smith. This series has so much potential. If Percy and Smith can maintain the tone they set with Ghost Rider #1, this is going to be a must-read run from start to finish.
