‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ Has A Production Start Date; Shooting In Atlanta

Feb 12, 2017

We’ve been excited to learn when Legendary Pictures will begin shooting the sequel to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla titled Godzilla: King of Monsters.

Krampus director Michael Dougherty has been confirmed as the director and co-writer with Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown attached as the first cast member it looks like production will be taking place very soon.

While it had been reported by trades that Legendary’s new Chinese owners The Wanda Group had been planning on shooting the film at their new studio facility Qingdao Movie Metropolis in the port city of Qingdao, China.

New production information spotted by Omega Underground suggests that they’ll be starting off stateside in Atlanta, Georgia starting on June 19th.

This could also explain why Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp had their Atlanta production start recently bumped up to July from June. The facilities in Atlanta are getting crowded and there are only so many stages to accommodate the influx of major studio business flooding to the area.

Godzilla: King of Monsters is set for release on March 22nd, 2018.
