‘Han Solo’ Shortlist Includes Scott Eastwood, Dave Franco, Jack Raynor, and Others

Jan 11, 2016

A new report from Variety is shining some light on the many potential actors who are vying for the role of Han Solo in the Phil Lord and Chris Miller directed Star Wars standalone film. While we’ve heard thousands of actors have met for the role, the trade has a shortlist of known names which isn’t really short to be honest.

They include Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad, Fury), Jack Raynor (MacBeth, Jungle Book: Origins, What Richard Did, Transformers 4), Dave Franco (21 Jump Street, Neighhbors), Miles Teller (Fantastic Four, Whiplash), Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver), Logan Lerman, Emorey Cohen, and Blake Jenner. Some of these actors are clearly odd choices, while the three I’ve highlighted have good chances here. Then again, these are the names that we’re being given, Lucasfilm could easily pick someone completely unknown like they did with Daisy Ridley.

Lord and Miller could do what they did with Channing Tatum taking an actor like Eastwood or Raynor helping them bring-out their comedic sides. I’m not 100% convinced Lucasfilm would hire people like Teller or Lerman for a role like this.

They’re also reaffirming old talk that Han Solo could be appearing in Star Wars: Rogue One, which would mean that they’d have to choose someone soon to add them into the film. This could mean that Rogue One is set a lot earlier than New Hope, as it was revealed in Sith the Empire had the Deathstar plans at the end of that film.
