The longtime rumors have seemingly been confirmed that HBO Max will be getting a Harry Potter series by The Hollywood Reporter. Almost nothing is known about the upcoming series except for what it won’t be – an adaptation. The Harry Potter Universe is so extensive that a spinoff could still mean just about anything.
The way we consume art has had to adapt to the new restrictions, but HBO Max has accumulated quite the library since its debut. It has been 10 long years since cohesive content left the Wizarding World, which makes me wonder if this will be all we hope or another voyage into favoring cameos over congruency.
This news comes less than a year after the creator of the franchise JK Rowling landed herself in hot water with many a loyal fan over some tweets that many feel strike against the core of her message in the series.
So, between questionable casting decisions to essays that double down on a philosophy getting her in trouble, who knows how well the show will actually do. Many loyal fans feel torn between watching the world they love and not patroning those that they feel aren’t living up to its ideals.
