The first issue spectacular for Hawkman is here and it does not disappoint one iota! Carter Hall returns to the pages of DC in search of more of his past and this book starts it all off in great style. One of the oldest heroes in the universe (both canonically and literally) searches out for more about his past, searching for an item that will hopefully unlock the secrets of his past. This discovery brings up more than Carter was expecting, hopefully, something he can take care of in the future.
Hitch’s artwork in this first issue was amazing in the depth of its richness and sharpness. Whether Hawkman is flying or Carter is walking, no matter what panel you check out, it has a boldness that really grabs you in such a breathtaking undertaking. The story that Venditti set up for readers is ready for a deeper exploration, worthy of a long and healthy run. This one-two punch brought on by these two creators will grab you and knock you out by the end but then you’ll want to get up and take some more. Grab this edition and stay on board for the upcoming journey!
