Our friends over at IGN we able to ask actor Henry Cavill about his video game habits, and curiously brought up the potential of starring in Netflix’s upcoming Witcher series in the lead role of Geralt.
Cavill seemed to be interested on the hypothetical casting and revealed being a fan.
So at a recent junket for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, IGN asked Cavill what he was busy playing these days.
“The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through,” said Cavill. “Love that game. Really good game.”
With that in mind, we asked if he’d be interested in the role of Geralt in Netflix’s adaptation. “Absolutely. Yeah, that would be an amazing role.”
Cavill also went on to reveal his love of the source material, Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of fantasy novels. “The books are amazing,” Cavill tells us. “The books are really, really good… The books I started reading, and they are well worth a read.”
As with most British actors, Henry doesn’t seem opposed to doing small screen roles while still balancing movie projects which makes the casting idea a little more reachable.
Casting hasn’t been announced on the series but is expected to be filmed in Eastern Europe. The series has a chance to become Netflix’s version of Game of Thrones as they do share a lot of the same mature tones, just with a lot more magic and monsters.
