Apr 29, 2020

Update: TheHollywoodReporter has confirmed the Live-Action remake based off ‘Hercules’ is indeed in production. The Russo brothers are set to produce the film through their AGBO banner. Dave Callaham (The Expendables, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is set to write the script. The film currently does not have a director yet.

After the financial success of ‘Aladdin’ and ‘The Lion King’ remakes produced by Disney. The studio has decided to move on with a remake based on the 1997 animated film, ‘Hercules.’ Jefferey Silver (Tron: Legacy) and Karen Gilchrist (The Lion King) have been hired to produce the film. The film will be released through theaters, instead of on their streaming service Disney+. This new remake is expected to feature songs from the original, and perhaps new songs as well.

Jon Favreau, The Russo brothers, and Gore Verbinski are rumored to be directing the upcoming film. Once the director is found, casting will begin.
