Hugh Jackman Comments On Disney/Fox Deal – His “Ship Has Sailed” On Wolverine

Dec 11, 2017

Despite recent online rumblings of Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine showing up in Avengers 4, the man himself squashed the rumor via Collider. The outlet brought up the Disney/Fox merger to Jackman while promoting his upcoming musical The Greatest Showman.

Well, don’t get your hopes up as Hugh has bluntly stated “sadly the ship has sailed” concerning his Wolverine incarnation. But suggested it would be great for the next actor to play him.

“It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, “Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,” and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, “Hang on!” But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there.”

Don’t fret fans! James Mangold has been developing a script for a Logan sequel that would focus on Dafne Keen‘s X-23. If the deal with Disney comes together it wouldn’t be hard to imagine them adding a rebooted version of Wolverine to the Avengers lineup due to his popularity.
